To design an app for Fly UX, a start-up airline company, focusing specifically on streamlining the flight booking process.(This case study is part of the Professional UX Design Diploma from the UX Design Institute – credit rated Caledonian University).

The problem
Most flight booking applications are difficult to navigate and have a lack of clarity of what is included with air fare, causing customer frustration and dissatisfaction.

Design goal
Create an online experience that is fast, easy, and intuitive: one that’s based on a deep understanding of the target users needs. It should solve users’ problems and bring positive experience to earn customer loyalty.

Participants

Duration
6 months

Design Process:
RESEARCH Competitive benchmarking, Online survey, Note-taking of two external usability tests and Usability test (video) conducted by myself
ANALYSIS Affinity diagram, Customer journey map
DESIGN Flow diagram and Interaction design
PROTOTYPE High-fidelity Prototype
WIREFRAME Descriptive Wireframe for developers

Conclusions
This helped me to define any additional details that the developers would require to build the application accurately. It also allowed me to understand the terminology that developers use when building an app. During this stage of the process, I further understood the importance of wireframing and how it can decrease the risk of misanderstanding and falling out issues.

*After the successful completion of the Project and an official online exam I received my professional Diploma in UX Design from UX Design Institute (University credit-rated by Glasgow Caledonian University).
